Introduction

Heat generation during the charging and discharging of batteries is largely due to their impedance. Characterisation of this heat under different operating conditions is vital for efficient thermal management of cells in packs or modules. The IBCx can be used together with an external cycler to study stability, performance, efficiency and life cycle of cells. Heat capacity measurement is also possible. The standard system accommodates pouch and prismatic cells. Adaptors are available for cylindrical cells.
